  • Explorer Sport: A Great Truck - 2001 Ford Explorer Sport

The 2001 Eplorer Sport is a great truck, the new design makes it stand out and I really like the look of the flares, it gives it a more bulky look. The interior is really nice, except one flaw, the door handles are easliy scrathed and the paint flakes off the plastic.

Ive owned my 2001 Explorer sport since 2003 when I was in college. Since then Ive clocked more than 100000 miles in it. Aside from a trip to the dealer for a bad air flow sensor shes been good to me. Never let me down, always started, still runs like a champ. I love the interior layout, while small I always seem to find room for what Im hauling when I lay the seats flat. Sadly I will soon have to part with her as Im about to have a baby and will need to upgrade to another Explorer (this time the sport trac) to have 4 doors to fit the baby.

The Explorer Sport is the kind of vehicle that will leave you with some extra cash on your wallet so you can go ahead and spend it on great outdoor activities you envisioned yourself prior to purchasing it. Fun to drive, strong engine, great looks, lots of room at a nice price tag.

  • Ill never drive another small ride! - 2003 Ford Explorer Sport

For the size of this vehicle it is great! Good gas mileage and handles like a dream. I will never own another small car again. This is the way to go. Alot of room, even for backseat passengers. Also, I love having the space in the back to haul things and carry things as needed. It may have been around for awhile but it is still one of the best for the price and look.

I have owned this truck for over 4 years and it has been reliable, practical and fun to drive. From the cold and snow in Chicago down to the heat and crowded streets of South Beach, the truck handles well in all conditions. I wish they still made them as Id like to get another one when the time comes.

  • Have You Driven A Ford Sport lately - 2001 Ford Explorer Sport

I factory ordered my Explorer Sport in 2000. Just love the look of the new model. My Explorer Sport is a 4X4 with skid plates, which was perfect for the Rocky Mountains jeep trails of Colorado and carry my ski gears. Now, I live in Florida and my Explorer is towing my 19 boat. My Explorer has been as high as 14,000 feet to sea level with no problems whatsoever. I do my routine maintenance and the biggest repair is getting new brake pads and rotors. Not bad at all IMHO. Its fun to go on the beach and switch to 4X4 and go on the path less traveled. Others SUVs without 4X4 just get stuck in the sand! I am still surprised that I get 20 mpg on the highways going to work.

  • I love this SUV! - 2001 Ford Explorer Sport

I am SO disappointed that Ford has discontinued the 2 door Ford Explorer Sport! I live in NH where 4WD is an absolute must just to get up my driveway in the winter. I do not need or want a four-door vehicle and find the full-size Explorer to be "family" looking since I have neither kids or a dog. The Ford Escape just looks too chintzy to be an option. I wish car makers would realize that there are thirty-something consumers who want a sporty SUV that is not the size of a Matchbox or the size of a house...

  • Excellent little SUV!! - 2003 Ford Explorer Sport

I purchased my 2003 2 door Explorer Sport in 2004 with 12,000 miles on it. It is now 2015 and it has over 250,000 miles on it. I would buy this vehicle over and over again. I take very good care of it, get my oil changed every 3,000 miles and my tires rotated every other oil change. Since I have owned this vehicle I have only had to replace my alternator. I have gone through 3 sets of tires... the first being Michelins from the factory, then I went with the cheap ones and did not like the ride at all so when those wore out I went back to the Michelins and got my smooth ride back! I just cant say enough good about this vehicle. Before I purchased this 2 door, I had a 4 door Ford Explorer when I had kids to haul all over the place and that was a charm of a SUV as well. When the kids flew the nest, I decided that I wanted just a little more of a sporty look, so I traded in my 4 door for the 2 door. I do not have 4 wheel drive and I live in Minnesota. I have been driving this vehicle for 11 years now and there hasnt been one time that I would have even used the 4 wheel drive. Love, Love Love this sporty looking SUV. Do not hesitate to purchase one if you get the chance to.

  • Best of the SUVs for the money - 2002 Ford Explorer Sport

Looked at everything else and kept coming back to the Sport for the price and looks. Perfect for a couple who never hauls kids. Drives well on the road with much more response than the 4 door due to 600 lbs of less wt. Same engine and tranny as the 4door. Quiet on the road.

I bought this car a year ago and have almost 30,000 miles on it. It has been a very good car and I take it everywhere. Will definitely drive it until it cant be driven anymore.
